• K-6 Student Groups & Programs 

    Student Council

    The Student Council is made up of fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Each homeroom class selects two representativeswho must keep their grades up and demonstrate positive behavior while on the council. The representatives select a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Officers must be fifth and sixth graders.

    National Elementary Honor Society

    The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals in cooperation with the National Association of Elementary School Principals. NEHS involves the school in promoting scholarship, responsibility, leadership, and service. CES is a Founding Chapter of NEHS in 2008-2009.

    Elementary Choir

    Students in fifth and sixth grades have the opportunity to participate in choir. They receive 30 minutes of choir each week.  Any student with a desire to participate who can keep up their grades and demonstrate positive behavior is welcome as choir members.  The choirs are under the direction of Jennifer Tallman.

    Sixth Grade Band

    Students in sixth grade can elect to take band. The band meets four days each week which fulfills the music requirement for sixth grade. Fittings and informational meetings take place in March of the student's fifth grade year.  Please contact Mr. Burkhart, band director, at (989) 442-1998 with any questions about joining the band.

    Backpack Buddies

    Fourth grade students perform the service of filling the backpacks for the CES Backpack Buddy Program. They have earned space of their own in which to store and organize food. Backpacks are distributed almost every week. Missy Lynch is the faculty advisor.

    Recycling Program

    Fourth grade students in Mrs. Lynch's homeroom pick up the recycling every Thursday afternoon.

     

    Girls on the Run

    Girls on the Run is program for 3rd through 5th grade girls meant to encourage young women to be proud of who they are and help them to achieve their goals in a healthy way. The six topics the program lives by are caring, confidence, competence, connection, character, and contribution. The girls receive a lesson in one or more of these topics each practice. Then they set running goals for themselves and practice running to eventually be able to run a 5K at the end of the season. 

    Lego League & Lego League Jr

    Lego League is for 4th-6th grade students; Lego League Jr. aims for the younger 2nd-3rd grade group. Both seasons run September through December. The teams build robots out of Lego's for competition
